Hey guys! Sorry I have not posted a single drawing in for ever. If you have read my journal, then you know that I have been busy...But anyway, I will try to post as much as I can now that I have finally graduated highschool.
So what you see here is a box that I have made when I took Advanced Pottery. It was my final assignment for the class and it took me over two months to get it finished. It is called a memory box. I had to think of three memories, either happy or sad memories and come up with a couple ideas that represent them. Plus, I had to make a drawer, a hidey hole, and a lid. The story behind my memory box is a very long story, but I will try to keep it as short as possible.
1st box ~ This box begins with a happy memory, which is when me, my two older sisters, and my parents were happy. The drawer represents the house we lived in and around the box is our huge yard where we would all run around and play games like tag and frisbee on a beautiful sunny day. We did everything together as a family. We loved spending everyday with eachother.
2nd box ~ The second box you see here is a sad memory of mine, a memory that I will never forget. As a couple years passed by, my parents separated and my dad left me, my sisters, and our mother at our house. When I was 13, my mom died. It was a devastating time for me and my sisters. The spikes show that no matter how many people tried to get me to talk, I wouldn't say a word about my feelings. I kept all of my emotions bottled up inside. Inside the box is full of more spikes that shows the pain I was feeling. The cracks carved into it represent my heart. It was breaking.
3rd box ~ Lastly, this box you see on the very top shows that as a year passed by, everything started to settle. The swirls shows the changes that had to be made and how much I've grown through the rough time I had to overcome. I guess you can say that this box shows that I was finally starting to become happy again, because I know that is what my mother would have wanted for me.
So that's my story behind my memory box. I hope you like it! Memory box (c) Me
